Apple Bars
Ingredients
- 1 cup sifted flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup firmly packed lt. brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup chopped pared cooking apples
For Cinnamon-Sugar Topping:
- 1 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Melt butter in a medium pan; remove from heat. Beat in sugars, egg and vanilla with a wooden spoon. Stir in flour mixture, apples and nuts. Spread in greased 8x8x2” pan. Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture. Bake for 30 minutes.
