Christmas Fun Cookies
- 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla, almond or lemon extract
- 6 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
- 1 egg
Combine all ingredients in large mixing bowl. Beat at medium speed until dough forms, about five minutes. Chill two hours or up to four days.
Flatten with rolling pin and shape with your favorite cookie cutter. If dough becomes soft while shaping, re-chill.
Decorate cookies with colored sugars, red-hot cinnamon candies, chocolate chips, and raisins before cooking or decorate with cake/cookie frosting after baking. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 375°F for eight to 10 minutes. Cool cookies for one minute. Carefully remove from cookie sheet. Makes about two dozen.
