White Texas Sheet Cake


1 cup butter
1 cup water
2 cup sugar
2 cup + 4 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup sour cream

1 cup butter
6 Tbsp evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla
4-5 cups powdered sugar
dash of salt
1 cup pecans (optional)


Preheat oven to 375°F. Put butter and water in a large bowl, microwave for 2 minutes; stir until butter is melted.  Add sugar, flour, salt, and soda; whisk until smooth.  Add eggs and vanilla, beat well.  Stir in sour cream until all is blended. Pour into a greased & floured 11”x17” baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes clean.

Cook butter and milk for 3-4 minutes in microwave.  Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and a dash of salt; beat until smooth. Add nuts and gently spread on warm cake. Cool and serve.
